Every once and awhile I get an email from a college student who is attending (or recently graduated) from the college I attended. They are usually looking for career advice or a potential inside track to a job at my company. What amazes me is the misconceptions about job search and networking. So in one call I had today, I asked the guy if he was leveraging LinkedIn and he told me not really. So of course I said youre kidding, why? and he told me that he was afraid that his employer would find out that he was looking for a job. What? Everyone is on LinkedIn and being on LinkedIn doesnt necessarily mean that you are looking for a job.
